On the 20th May after completing its drilling operations Jack up rig Paragon HZ-1 departed Wingate production platform of Wintershall Noordzee BV. Next destination the Winchelsea exploration location approximately 5 nautical miles off the Wingate platform.
Seagoing tugs for the short tow were 216t Bollard Pull A.H. Valletta, 50t BP André B and 83t BP Duke II.
HZ-1 commenced its move in the morning and was positioned successfully on the Winchelsea drilling location that afternoon. After preloading the rig was jacked up to its final air gap after which the drilling package was skidded out to continue its drilling operations.
Offshore Marine Contractors co-ordinated the towage of the rig in co-operation with operator Wintershall Noordzee BV and its owner Paragon Offshore.
