After refurbishing the Leman BT platform and preparing Shell E&P’s Leman BH platform for decommissioning Seafox 4 accommodation rig prepared to depart the complex moving to Leman Echo.
Seafox 4’s legs where positioned approximately 2 metres from subsea pipelines, the departure was carefully planned deploying 2 anchors at the bow and 2 spansets connected to the jacket legs of the platforms. A challenging rig move with high currents, large tidal differences and narrow distances.
215t Bollard Pull A.H. Valletta performed lead tug and anchor handling duties with Bugsier 20 and the Boa Heimdal in support role disconnecting the spansets, assisting the tow and positioning.
On 28th of May in the afternoon the convoy arrived at Leman Echo stand-off location where soon after the anchors where run. In the morning 29th of May the rig was positioned alongside the Leman Echo platform, raised to operating air gap and all 4 anchors recovered.
Offshore Marine Contractors completed the rig move safely and smoothly in co-operation with rig owners Seafox and it’s operator Shell E&P / NAM.
